Ribble Valley

Ribble Valley is a borough in Lancashire, North West England, with Clitheroe as its administrative centre. The borough includes Longridge, Whalley and numerous villages and rural communities.

The area takes its name from the River Ribble, which flows through the valley. Its landscape includes farmland, wooded valleys, limestone hills and the moorland of the Forest of Bowland, much of which is designated as a National Landscape.

Ribble Valley has a long history of agriculture, market towns, religious communities and rural industries. Clitheroe Castle, Whalley Abbey and the historic settlements throughout the borough reflect centuries of local development.

The borough is known for its countryside, walking routes, historic buildings, country inns, restaurants and places to stay. Its towns and villages provide access to both the surrounding landscape and the area’s cultural heritage.
